Acts 14:27 When they arrived, they called the church together and related all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith for the Gentiles.
Into this all-too-familiar world of borders and boundaries, Jesus’ actions are as unexpected as a coyote who refuses payment. In the Acts of the Apostles, God opens a door of faith to those on the other side, and this proves to be so disruptive to everyone involved that it threatens the foundations of the early Jesus Movement, not to mention the lives of faithful followers then and now. Jesus has thrown the doors of heaven open wide. There is no border toll or fee we are required to pay for entry. This is not the way we’ve been accustomed to doing things. Thanks be to God.
MOVING FORWARD: When was the last time God’s border crossing upset your ideas about how things are or how they ought to be?
