WEDNESDAY, January 10

John 1:29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”

The Lamb could have run from the slaughter, gone where the hammers and the nails couldn’t find him. But he kept on walking toward John the Baptist, carrying the certainty of the cross in his heart. Jesus knew that Golgotha was the only place where he could find us, the ultimate place to show us God’s love. If Jesus had turned away from this crossroad, the message and meaning of his life could have been lost to us forever.

We all face crossroads. We can go on with our lives as they are or choose to sacrifice part of ourselves for a cause or a person we hold dear. No, we aren’t literally nailed to a cross, but we connect ourselves to another’s need. And there, we find the heart of the Lamb waiting. In that place, the full message and meaning of Christ’s life in us is not lost to the world. We find resurrection.

And not only for ourselves.

MOVING FORWARD: Are you praying yourself or a loved one through a crossroads? How is Jesus speaking resurrection into your life?
