Mark 9:33-34 When they came to Capernaum; and when [Jesus] was in the house he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the way?” But they were silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest.
Jesus knows the temptation for worldly greatness. He faces this temptation in the wilderness. Now his disciples are confronted by it as well. He does not respond in anger or frustration. He simply teaches them a better way: “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.”
Do you want to be great? Learn how to serve.
MOVING FORWARD: How will you exhibit holy greatness and serve your neighbors this week?
