MONDAY, September 11

Philippians 1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

When things aren’t going well in my life, I tend to feel as though my heart shrinks. It feels pinched with envy and discontent. The only way to open it is with love. To me, the word “grace” means love—love even when there is no reason for love to exist, and forgiveness that is given without being requested or even deserved. Grace inspires me to be present and open to others, allowing an abundant flow of love between me and the world. Grace is as broad and open as the sky, as deep and bountiful as the ocean.

Grace reminds me that what I put into the world will come back to me tenfold. When I remember grace, I am reminded to be quiet, strong, observant, and compassionate like a mother doe. If I have and give grace, the loving gift of my Father and Lord, I have and give peace. Grace and peace make me confident and encourage me to follow Jesus, come what may.

MOVING FORWARD: This week, make plans to say Morning Prayer on your own or with a friend.
