WEDNESDAY, September 13

1 Kings 17:15-16 She went and did as Elijah said, so that she as well as he and her household ate for many days. The jar of meal was not emptied, neither did the jug of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD that he spoke by Elijah.

The other day, my son told me that his favorite story in the Bible is about the loaves and fishes miracle. I like that he focuses on messages of abundance and is open to the ever-flowing grace of Jesus. I also like to remind my son that in order for Jesus to offer what he has to give, we must begin with what we have, even if it is very little.

A boy offered what he had and that enabled Christ to feed a multitude.

The widow of Zerephath gave what meal and oil she had and fed Elijah and her household.

In the act of giving, we so often discover there is more, always more. We shouldn’t be afraid if our resources seem limited because God is more than willing to show us the meaning of the word limitless.

MOVING FORWARD: Share your favorite story in the Bible with someone you love.
