Acts 6:10 But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which [Stephen] spoke.
But what if the Holy Spirit is more like the gentle lapping of water along the shoreline of a small lake? In and out. Up and down. Water rising and falling. In small moments of time, change is imperceptible. But over the course of weeks, months, years, we notice the shoreline transforming, submitting to the relentless yet gentle ebb and flow of water.
Our life with God might be seen in much the same way. We are the shoreline, solid and sure. God is the lake: Quiet and unassuming but able to whip into a frenzy at a moment’s notice. Instead of pummeling us into submission, God gently works, and we are transformed.
Step back and read the story. See how the Spirit works.
