SUNDAY, May 27      Trinity Sunday

John 3:8 The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.

Today is Trinity Sunday. We celebrate the Trinity, a doctrine describing the way one God-essence is depicted and experienced as three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) over the course of salvation history. Abstract enough for you?

Years ago, I came across an idea that adds some heart to this fairly stiff theological idea. A pastor observed that each of us will connect with one “person” of God at different times in our lives. As a child, I encountered God as Father/Creator in the beautiful Texas hill country. As a young adult, I became fascinated by the rebellious Jesus. And now that I’m an adult, I am learning that I need to practice listening to the subtle voice of the Holy Spirit in my life.

MOVING FORWARD: How would you describe your experience of God in three persons lately? Share your thoughts, photos, and stories with us by using #ForwardDayByDay.
