SATURDAY, April 28

Acts 13:7-8 [A false prophet] was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and wanted to hear the word of God. But the magician Elymas (for that is the translation of his name) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul away from the faith.

As the stories of the apostles in Acts make clear, evangelism has never been an easy mission. Fears of rejection, failure, and offending others are very real. So much prevents the hearing of this message of good news. It can feel like we live in a world whose values run counter to the values of God—a world governed by stubbornness, hardheartedness, busyness, and apathy.

How does the Gospel of Jesus Christ intersect with the lives of people who find themselves too busy to invite God in, or who find the transition to the saving community of Christ too onerous, or who just do not care? Perhaps the deeper, two-part question is: What difference does Jesus make in our lives and how might we share the gospel from the storehouses of our own experiences with Christ?

MOVING FORWARD: Come up with your talking points for sharing the gospel of Jesus. Think of one or two personal stories you can share. Have them ready and preach that good news the next time you have the chance!
