SUNDAY, April 29     5 Easter

Acts 13:40-41 Beware, therefore, that what the prophets said does not happen to you: “Look, you scoffers! Be amazed and perish, for in your days I am doing a work, a work that you will never believe, even if someone tells you.”

As a campus ministry intern, I had to come to terms with my deep displeasure at working in groups. I tried to do my thing myself, my way. But this came across as being hurtful and dismissive of the community I was serving. Fortunately, we were able to find a way to minister together and to each other. Even though I will probably never love group work, I learned how to compromise and compensate and how to be in community in a new way.

I wonder about our blind spots. We are sadly mistaken if we believe the work of God exists only within the four corners of our own personal and painfully human points of view. While order and structure have their place, we must always remember that God’s great work is to surprise, satisfy, and delight us…even when we have trouble believing.

MOVING FORWARD: Think of a way you can provide an unexpected blessing to a friend or family member this week.
