THURSDAY, May 31

Matthew 14:16-17 Jesus said to them “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” They replied, “We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.”

It is easy to look at small towns and ask, “What could God possibly be up to there?” It’s also tempting to look at our broken, foolish selves and wonder, “What could God want with me?” Maybe you’re dreading the rest of today and are already worried about tomorrow, unable to see anything particularly inspiring or holy in the coming days.

You are in not alone in these feelings. The disciples look askance at two little fish and five stale loaves, and yet Jesus declares them to be enough to feed the multitude in front of them. More than enough, even. And, incredibly, it is enough—with plenty of leftovers to send home with weary travelers.

GIVING BACK: How would our world be different if we looked at ourselves and our communities as “more than enough” for God to work miracles with? Partner in ministry with us today by visiting www.forwardmovement.org and donate to our mission of inspiring disciples and empowering evangelists.
