Matthew 2:1-12. Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews?
I know what that feels like. I’ve often acted on partial information, misinformation, information wrongly interpreted, or a guess with no information at all, and ended up someplace I should never have gone to. A wiser man might have advised the wise men to make sure they knew where they were going before setting out. So maybe the wise men weren’t so wise after all.
But what if we don’t have all the information? If the wise men had waited for a printout from Mapquest, they’d have waited a long time. Sometimes we must act on limited information, intuition, and hunches, and if we wait too long, events will pass us by. The wise men knew a momentous event had occurred and they set out to find it, blindly it seems. That’s risky, but it’s a risk we must sometimes take. An unexpected blessing may come to us along the way; perhaps where we didn’t intend to go is where we are meant to be.
