Isaiah 1:27-29a Zion shall be redeemed by justice, and those in her who repent, by righteousness. But rebels and sinners shall be destroyed together, and those who forsake the LORD shall be consumed.
And then a miracle happened. The Amish community—the families who had lost beloved daughters—embraced the murderer’s family, attended his funeral, and grieved over his death. Our Amish brothers and sisters believe the Bible is God’s very Word. In their response to unimaginable devastation, they showed the entire world a visible example of redemptive justice.
It is God’s will and great mercy to restore humanity to right relationship with God and each other. God does this through us, day by day. The Amish of Nickel Mines dared to live this kind of faith. Let us do the same.
MOVING FORWARD: What do you know about our Amish friends? Do a little research and see what you can learn about these children of God.
