Isaiah 30:21 And when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

I have a habit of getting myself turned around while driving, even when the simplest route is right in front of me. Sometimes on the way home from the store, I become nervous about a certain turn, lose my head a little, and take a 10-minute detour. Suddenly, I am blocks away from the route I take every week, and I have to find my way home.

In truth, I know that I am focusing too much on which will be the “best” way to take. Which route will have less traffic? Which route will hit fewer red lights? The same worries I have about my driving manifest in my life. Am I making the “best” decisions? Do the “best” decisions even exist?

One of my most sacred methods of prayer is a direct result of this: I address myself aloud as I imagine God might in such a scenario. “All right, we’re a little turned around. It’s okay though, it’s okay. Just follow my directions; I’ll get you where you need to go. Just follow me.”

MOVING FORWARD: Do you need God’s help in getting back on track? Turn always to God.
