John 10:11-12 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away—and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.
All of us should take prudent measures for our physical security. But we must be especially mindful of the ways we become consumed with physical needs and safety and forget to safeguard our spirits.
When the wolf comes to lead us away from God, faith in the things of this world leave us unprotected. Only our faith in the Good Shepherd can protect us. Jesus Christ, who lays down his life to save ours, remains ever ready to stand between us and that which would do us harm.
