TUESDAY, February 12

2 Timothy 1:5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, lives in you.

Christian author C.S. Lewis tells of a man who is taken to heaven and granted a vision of a great woman. A glorious procession surrounds her, and music can be heard for miles around. She is unbearably beautiful, and a bright light shines forth from her. The man’s mind races: Who else could this lady be but the Blessed Virgin Mary herself? Is he about to meet the woman honored above all women?

“Is it…her?” As the vision of the woman approaches, the man’s guide corrects him. This is not Mary but a relatively unknown woman named Sarah.

What was it that she did on earth to earn such favor in heaven? The answer is simple: Sarah cared for every person she met as if she was his or her mother. The great procession included all those for whom she cared—and those for whom they cared.

GIVING BACK: Reach out in love today and help us bring the good news of Jesus to those in prison. Visit www.ForwardMovement.org/donate to join in this ministry of love.
