John 10:25 Jesus answered, “I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name testify to me.”
I wonder if practicing deep gratitude isn’t another way of keeping record of the memorable people and occurrences in our lives and our hearts. Perhaps gratitude is also a way of keeping present in our minds and our lives the benefactors of grace and enactors of good who have impacted our lives.
When asked, yet again, for proof of who he is, Jesus answers, “I have told you, and you do not believe.” The proof is in everything that I do for you on behalf of God.
I wonder if it isn’t worth our while to periodically take inventory of the ways God has shown us love or made the Holy Spirit manifest in our lives, so that in our deep gratitude we do not forget and no longer need to ask for proof—or further proof—to believe.
MOVING FORWARD: Consider keeping a gratitude journal, or maybe include a special spot for thanksgivings in an already-established journal.
