Revelation 19:10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your comrades who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

“What idols do you worship?” I asked during a Bible study. We had been talking about Elijah and the prophets of Baal. One of the folks in the study commented that there weren’t any idol worshipers left. I pulled my wallet out of my pocket and placed it on the table. “That is but one of our idols,” I said. “There is a temple for its worship in every town, with the letters B A N K inscribed over its doors.”

It is too easy to make something other than God the object of our adoration. Isn’t that how idol worship begins, with the misplaced focus of our love and trust? It’s tough for saints to get it right.

God is the source of our love and how we know how to love. May God be the focus of our love as well.
