THURSDAY, October 14                  Samuel Schereschewsky

Matthew 10:40 Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.

Last Tuesday I celebrated my birthday. There have been many moments in my life when I felt very close to God and other times when I felt far away. Today I feel like I am at God’s side, and I am fulfilling my ministry as an active member of my faith community. If someone calls me, it’s because they need me, and I am there to help.

We want to find the sick and the needy and to give them what they need. Encountering the poor and helping them however we can must be a priority in our lives.

I encourage you to examine your own life and to evaluate what you are doing for your neighbor. May your life and mine speak of all we can do for others. I hope that today and every day, others will see the Lord’s face in mine.

MOVING FORWARD: Forward Movement sends more than 100,000 copies of Forward Day by Day and other books to prisons, hospitals, and nursing homes. Learn more about how you can support this ministry at forwardmovement.org/donate.
