FRIDAY, February 14                  Cyril & Methodius

John 8:37 I know that you are descendants of Abraham; yet you look for an opportunity to kill me, because there is no place for you in my word.

Life is filled with drama. When we look at the life of our spiritual ancestors, drama is everywhere—family feuds, wars, mistakes, and failed attempts to be the holy people God has made and called us to be.

One faithful step in dealing with our own personal drama might be to remember that even Jesus faced his own dramas with his family, community, and culture. As we remember these stories, we ask Jesus to make us more like him—willing to pray boldly for God’s will and not our own.

When we find ourselves in the midst of drama, it is good to ask God to be present to and in our thoughts, words, and deeds. We must remember to take a deep breath—it is never wise to make decisions when we are experiencing strong emotional reactions. May we have the courage to face our dramas with the love and mercy of Jesus.

MOVING FORWARD: Next time drama finds you, remember to say a quick prayer before you respond.
