SUNDAY, March 15                           3 Lent

John 4:42 They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the Savior of the world.”

The theological dialogue between Jesus and this unnamed Samaritan woman is a beautiful example of the compassionate inclusivity of the One whose kingdom is coming and is already among and with us. Jesus engages with someone that his family and religio-cultural community would find scandalous. Jesus sets this woman free to spontaneously invite her townsfolk to come and see the kingdom come. In her act of evangelism, we catch another glimpse of the meaning and reality of profound inclusion and belovedness.

When we recognize how beloved we truly are, when we claim a faith received by grace, our eyes are opened to new ways of being and doing.

MOVING FORWARD: When have you been set free to be more inclusive with your love? Who has given you a soul-quenching drink?
