SUNDAY, September 15                           14 Pentecost

1 Timothy 1:14 And the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

When I started going to church and preparing for baptism, my wife told me, “Whatever you do, don’t come back later and tell me you want to be a priest!” A few years later, I spent a long day working up the courage to tell my wife I thought I was being called to ordained ministry.

Asking my wife to marry me was much easier than the conversation about ordained ministry. But both were a kind of proposal, an invitation for us to consider a very different life than we had known up to that point. It’s been twelve years since that day—we’ve moved three times and had two babies.

We had no idea what accepting God’s invitation would look like, but we know we have been blessed along the way. We have learned God stays true to God’s promise to remain on the journey with us—always.

MOVING FORWARD: Share a story with us about when God’s love has overflowed in your life by using #ForwardDaybyDay.
