WEDNESDAY, January 16

Mark 1:35 In the morning, while it was still very dark, [Jesus] got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.

Early morning is my favorite prayer time, and for twenty-five years, I have prayed along with Forward Day by Day. For the last several years, I have participated in the online community that we refer to as our “FDBD family.”

The diversity of voices within this faith community adds new dimensions to the scripture readings and meditation. Some folks post links to favorite songs or videos that deepen our understanding of each other’s hearts and lives. I marvel over the joy we share in hanging out in this virtual cloud of witnesses! I love this time and this special group of people.

I must also deeply listen to the One whose voice matters most. Long before the Internet, God provided prayer as the most wonderful, powerful communication system between humans and the divine. Amazingly, the Creator of the universe wants to talk with us! May the Holy Spirit bless your time together.

MOVING FORWARD: How will you share your prayer time with those you love?
