Psalm 136:1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy endures for ever.
In some translations of the evening psalm, “For his steadfast love endures for ever” is repeated in every single verse. During some seasons of life, we can sing Psalm 136 because we are so happy with God and experience love as tangibly present. When we say, “his love endures for ever,” we really mean it.
For thousands of years, people have used the psalms to sing things that they want to believe but can’t. Whenever any of us reach the point that we begin to doubt God’s steadfast love, join Christians throughout the ages who have prayed Psalm 136 and remember “his steadfast love endures for ever.”
MOVING FORWARD: Pray along with the morning and evening psalms today.
