SATURDAY, March 16

John 4:15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.”

As we grow older, we are less likely to recognize thirst. We may think we’re hungry or tired long before we realize we are becoming dehydrated and need a drink of water.

We can easily fail to recognize our spiritual dehydration too, until we are parched and find our wells of hope dry. Like the Samaritan woman, we need to sit with Jesus, listen to him tell us everything we’ve ever done and refill our souls with living water.

I love this woman’s candor and her willingness to accept some astonishing answers from an unexpected source. She is rewarded with the spring of water gushing up to eternal life and instantly becomes an evangelist, abandoning her water jug to rush off and tell her neighbors she has met the Messiah.

MOVING FORWARD: How is your spiritual hydration level? Do you need some water?
