SUNDAY, February 17                 6 Epiphany

1 Corinthians 15:19 If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

Noah is a fascinating biblical character tasked with building a giant boat in preparation for a massive flood—one no one else sees coming. Imagine living near Noah when he is beginning to gather materials for the ark. What do you say to a man attempting a project of this scale when there is no sign of a need for such a thing? Noah must be crazy. Unless, of course, he’s right.

Today’s lesson from Paul’s letter to the Corinthians always draws me back to Noah. Paul envisions a Christian community decidedly different from the rest of culture because of their belief that Jesus is alive and coming back and ready to reign in a kingdom of peace and mercy. They must be crazy…unless, of course, they are right.

MOVING FORWARD: Are you willing to be bold like Noah and the Corinthians? Are you willing to look crazy for the love of God?
