TUESDAY, February 18                  Martin Luther

1 John 2:8 Yet I am writing you a new commandment that is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.

We have a challenging time answering God’s call to pay attention to and emulate the holiness of Jesus. The author of 1 John provides us good encouragement, reminding us that Jesus walks in love and light, compassion and peace, in all of his relationships. Jesus lives a life marked by grace.

When we remember the gracious acts of others we live more graciously. Recounting the gracious deeds of the Lord also encourages and instructs us about how to behave with grace. Nothing keeps our hearts more full of compassion and love than when we celebrate God’s grace in our lives.

Looking for and proclaiming God’s grace in our lives makes all the difference in our outlook on life. Remember the words to the old song, “Count your many blessings. See what God has done.”

MOVING FORWARD: How will you speak grace into your conversations today?
