Romans 8:18 I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us.
In the Old Testament, much of the history of Israel and Judah is about winning and losing wars, winning and losing favor with God, and even winning and losing in relationships. But in his letter to the Romans, Paul brings up an important point: it’s not about winners or losers. Life is not a zero-sum game.
In fact, when we try to put our lives onto a scoreboard, things are not going to look good, from any perspective, but worst of all, it won’t look good in terms of God (home) vs. us (away). Instead, we are called to mercy and forgiveness from God. God has given us all that we need, and God will never let us go.
When we walk with God, we are not just winners or losers in a game. We are so much more than that. We are God’s children.
MOVING FORWARD: Play a game without keeping score.
