FRIDAY, February 19

Psalm 35:18 I will give you thanks in the great congregation; I will praise you in the mighty throng.

Halfway through the intersection, I realized I had run a red light. My heart pounded, and time seemed to slow down as I became aware of vehicles from the left and the right slowing to a stop without hitting me. I whispered, “Thank you, God,” and internally rejoiced, fully aware of God’s deliverance at that moment.

Each of us has had occasions to rejoice in the Lord and offer thanksgiving. We have been healed from injuries and illnesses. We have been released from unhealthy and destructive relationships. We have been excluded from experiences or opportunities that would have harmed us or kept us from something better.

Let us do more, in times of deliverance, than wipe our brows and utter “phew, that was close.” Let us rejoice and exult in the Lord.
