FRIDAY, April 19                  Good Friday

John 19:1-3 Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. And the soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they dressed him in a purple robe. They kept coming up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and striking him on the face.

When Good Friday draws near and we remember the sounds of the nails and the shadows of Golgotha, we should also remember who we are as beloved members of the body of Christ. Hopefully this day will remind us of the One who loved us enough to suffer and die for us.

There is deep goodness in Good Friday because it recalls for us the greatness and wonder of God’s selfless love. It is on Good Friday that I am reminded of my shortcomings, bad choices, and mistakes. And I remember my Savior who loves me enough to ensure my mistakes do not burden me forever. What’s so good about Good Friday? Grace, redemption, sacrifice, and love.

MOVING FORWARD: Spend at least thirty minutes in silence today.
