SUNDAY, May 19                                    5 Easter

Psalm 148:13 Let them praise the Name of the Lord, for his Name only is exalted, his splendor is over earth and heaven.

Our praise is like music to God’s ears. Praise is not just a matter of saying or posturing ourselves a certain way but of living in a way that points upward toward the Creator. To offer praise is to give accolades with our words and ways, unrestricted by time and place.

The first letter in the Hebrew word for praise is a pictograph of a person with arms raised up, as though pointing toward something great. The next two letters are pictographs of a shepherd’s staff, used to move a flock in a particular direction.

By whatever expression we choose to express our praise, it is a thing that is always making its way upward, through, and from the very depths of God.

MOVING FORWARD: Find a song to sing during your prayer time.
