1 John 4:12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.
I worry about the times when loving others isn’t at the top of my to-do list. Sometimes it feels like I am too busy to show love. With three jobs, graduate school, community leadership, and the occasional gig, I almost need to write “love others” into my intensely detailed planner every day.
I want love to shine out of me, and so I start with the small things that I can do in the midst of busyness. I practice smiling with my eyes, so that the mask covering my mouth doesn’t keep me from expressing joy and kindness. I clean my grandfather’s kitchen when I am tired—but know he is more so. These are my little love moments, and maybe they are, sometimes, just perfect.
MOVING FORWARD: In what little ways will you show love today?
