Luke 18:1-8. And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them? I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?

I was privileged to serve as a part-time chaplain at the local children’s hospital, as part of my seminary training.

I will always remember ten-year-old Tommy, who had been born with a rare auto-immune disorder and had undergone dozens of surgeries. Tommy had every disease in the book at some point. Everyone who walked into his room had to wear masks and gowns, required precautions to keep him from contracting new infections. Always by his bedside was his devoted mother. She prayed day and night for her son. Doctors and experts did not give her much hope that Tommy would survive, but she was convinced he would, and he did.

God rewards perseverance. Things you pray for may not happen exactly when you want them to, but don’t lose hope. God always listens to our prayers.
