Mark 5:34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”
For twelve years, this woman has been excluded from her community. According to the Jewish law, the woman’s condition made her unclean; she would not have been able to cook for her family, sit in the same chairs as they do, or even visit the temple to worship. She was excluded from her community for the entire lifetime of Jairus’s daughter, who we later learn is twelve years old. I don’t believe it’s a coincidence these stories are linked.
After the woman confesses to Jesus what she has done, Jesus calls her “daughter.” It’s a beautiful parallel that on the road to heal Jairus’s daughter, Jesus heals one of his own.
