Psalm 42:1 As the deer longs for the water-brooks, so longs my soul for you, O God.
While we fed and encouraged the presence of birds, deer came through on a daily basis whether we wanted them or not. Deer would browse their way through our yard, munching as they went, stopping to drink their fill from our birdbath.
Water in the desert is precious. I believe one reason our house was a regular stop on the deer path was the presence of fresh water. We all long to quench our thirst with living water—animals and humans alike. Biologically, we can live only three days without water. So, I ask: How long can we really live without God?
MOVING FORWARD: Make a donation of water to your local food pantry.
