1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
Read the words again—allow them to wash over you and soak into every fiber of your being. What do you feel? Relief? Disbelief? Pride? Other feelings—maybe several? Take a long, good look at yourself. Admire God’s Holy Spirit dwelling within you.
Look at the people around you—they are temples, too. Is it easier or harder to recognize the Spirit of God in them than in yourself? The kindness in that one’s eyes, the easy smile upon another’s mouth, the determination or passion or compassion held in their collected countenances. All of these give us a glimpse of God dwelling in God’s holy temple—you, me, her, him, them.
MOVING FORWARD: Now that you’ve been made aware of the sacredness of yourself, how will your life change? Now that you know of the other temples moving through life alongside you, what will you do differently? How will God be praised in the temple that is your soul?
