Luke 2:11 To you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.
God trusted the word of a young girl, the goodness of a bewildered young man, and the support of an impoverished and occupied community enough to come into the world and reveal the very heart of the kingdom. That’s a huge gamble for God to take on us.
You may remember that we have not always been a good bet. Just ask some of our Old Testament friends. And yet, here we still are, marveling at this brand-new, beautiful sign of hope and life and peace, the incarnation of the promise that all things shall be well. God does take that gamble, does bet on us to do right by this baby, to do right by each other, to do right by this incredible, beautiful, precious, and holy story every single day.
MOVING FORWARD: What’s the biggest gamble you’ve ever taken? How did it change your life?
Today the Church remembers The Nativity of Our Lord: Christmas Day December 25.
