Luke 17:14-16 And as they went, they were made clean. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice. He prostrated himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him.
The thought this week has been to develop the idea that true prayer starts with, and is always, the sense of being in God’s presence. First, we think about God. We think only of the Being of God. We quiet our hearts and our minds so that the peace of God may flow into us. But this is just the first step. When Jesus went to the desert to pray, he did not remain there. He returned to the world.
We give ourselves—our souls and bodies—to God, and by so doing, we become God’s instruments of peace. We live out our prayers and hopes. The love of God that is given to us is given to the people around us because God loves us, and we love God. We cannot remain apart from the world.
God is with us. We are with God. How many people would know that by what you say and do? Is your life a life of prayer? Our lives are the sermons people hear. Our lives show what our prayers really are.
MOVING FORWARD: Share your own “help,” “thanks,” and “wow” with your family and friends today.
