Psalm 119:25 My soul cleaves to the dust; give me life according to your word.
Whenever I help my grandfather with household chores, he always instructs me to dust the living room. Sometimes I think, “Why am I dusting this room again? It doesn’t look dusty, and I just dusted it a few days ago.” Then I do it anyway, because you do not ignore a chore and get away with it in my family.
However, I always find that there is dust. Maybe it’s a missed spot from the last dusting or an accumulation too fine for the eye to see but there nonetheless.
Perhaps we are meant to carefully and regularly dust our relationships with God and scripture. These are not relationships to leave behind and revisit when we want to show them off to others or polish during a once-a-year spring cleaning. Our souls are meant to be dusted off often. No corner shall be missed with vigilant care.
MOVING FORWARD: What needs dusting in your relationship with God? Get out the cleaner and get to work.
