WEDNESDAY, June 26

Acts 6:8 Stephen, full of grace and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.

I was too full after supper last night and felt that way for over an hour. It was not a pleasant feeling at all, and I was miserable until my body started to digest the food. When I overeat, feelings of unease and discomfort dominate my thoughts. But when I am no longer full, any thoughts or feelings about the meal disappear as well.

But look at Stephen: full of faith, empowered by the grace and power of the Holy Spirit. Stephen is full to the point that the Holy Spirit dominates his whole self. Can you imagine feeling the way Stephen does—so full of God’s spirit? Of course he does great wonders and signs! Is it any wonder that as he stands on trial, his face is that of an angel?

MOVING FORWARD: What are two ways you can practice being open to the filling of the Holy Spirit?
