FRIDAY, December 27         Saint John, Apostle

1 John 1:2 This life was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it, and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.

A seminary professor of mine, teaching about mission and evangelism, said: Remember: if it’s not working for you, don’t try to sell it to me.

When I’m enthusiastic about a book, TV show, gadget, or a new store in my neighborhood, I eagerly share my feelings with folks. Thoughts of vulnerability or scarcity never occur to me when there’s something I know is so powerful that others just have to experience it and be transformed like I have.

The good news of God in Christ is often much harder to share. Jesus’ earliest followers are eager to share their experience of the living God, not because they’re concerned about saving people but because they want everyone to enjoy fellowship with God.

MOVING FORWARD: In what way has the living God been revealed to you and impacted you? If the grace of God is working for you, don’t hold back in sharing!

PRAY for the Dioceses of Fond du Lac and Fort Worth (both in The Episcopal Church)
