2 Corinthians 3:3 And you show that you are a letter of Christ, prepared by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

One of my favorite things in the world is precision. Specificity. I love analysis, data, concrete answers. And yet I am a musician and an artist, wildly unpredictable in the melodies and paintings I create and find. There is nothing specific in what the Spirit of the living God writes on our hearts—and yet the message can be incredibly detailed in its meanings or implications.

Consider the command to “love thy neighbor.” This phrase is broad and undefined. Yet it also has specific implications. It asks us to help our neighbor when their car has died and they need a ride to work. It calls upon us to share our time and our money and our gifts with those who need them.

The Holy Spirit has written on all of our hearts. Have you read God’s vision for your life lately?

MOVING FORWARD: How are you living as “a letter of Christ” in broad strokes and in specific actions?
