Numbers 20:28 Moses stripped Aaron of his vestments, and put them on his son Eleazar; and Aaron died there on the top of the mountain. Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
We usually feel anxiety and fear in the face of major changes, as if we are losing all we know and ahead of us is only uncertainty. Aaron approaches the end of his life. Moses loses his brother and confidant. And the people of Israel are losing their high priest. What will life look like afterward? How can anyone take his place?
God speaks peace into their anxiety. The Most High calls Eleazar to a new life. And God calls the people of Israel to a new life, as well. They mourn, and they move forward.
MOVING FORWARD: Think of a friend who may be dealing with a transition. How can you love them through this?
