SATURDAY, December 28          Holy Innocents

Revelation 21:3, 5 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them. And the one who was seated on the throne said, “See, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Have you ever assembled a tent? It’s not as simple as putting up some poles and throwing a tarp over them. To set up camp isn’t an arbitrary or fleeting action—it is a deliberate, intentional choice to settle in a place.

To dwell somewhere—to abide—is setting up camp. God isn’t just hanging out with us when God dwells with us—although that’s pretty great, too. God has set up camp with us and moved into the tent next door. This is a deliberate, intentional choice to come into our hearts and in our midst. It is here, in the heart and at the hearth of our community and not from afar, that God is making all things new.

MOVING FORWARD: Start planning a spring camping trip.
