SATURDAY, September 28

Psalm 90:5 You sweep us away like a dream; we fade away suddenly like the grass.

Scripture isn’t super clear or consistent about what lies on the other side of death, though Jesus explicitly promises both resurrection and judgment. I like to think that after we die and await resurrection, we reside in some manner in God’s memory. In this way, I imagine we abide in God’s care as God intended us to be—that we know as we are fully known.

Mortal life sprints by so fast. The imagination of humankind forgets us quickly once we are gone. Yet in God’s dream, we continue awaiting the day we live in Zion—flourishing like strong, ancient redwoods, not fleeting blades of grass that fade away.

MOVING FORWARD: As part of your stewardship of your gifts and treasure, update your advanced directive and will today.
