Luke 6:41 Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye?

As far as I can tell, Christians all over the world have one thing in common. Christians of all sorts share this trait. It doesn’t matter which denomination we are or whether we’re conservative or liberal.

We all love to talk about other people’s sins.

If only those people would do things differently, the world would be better. I am right there among them, chief among those who love to find fault with others while ignoring my own sins. Jesus is talking to me, and I bet he’s talking to you, too.

Here’s the thing. We are all sinners. We all make mistakes. And Jesus loves us all the same anyway. There’s always enough of God’s love for my messed-up neighbor, and thanks be to God, there’s enough for me too. Instead of looking for the speck in another’s eye, it’s much better to try to figure out how to get the log out of our own eyes.

MOVING FORWARD: Social media can be an especially tempting place to publicly exult in others’ sins. How can you change your behavior to be more Christ-like in those settings?
