Romans 10:8-9 But what does it say? “The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
There were thousands of martyrs in the early days, people who were not ashamed to confess the Lord Jesus with their mouths. They confessed, even though it meant they were to be stoned, beheaded, crucified, thrown to lions. It took real courage to say, “I believe in Christ the King.”
There are those among us who make up their own religion and keep it loved deep within their hearts. Some make public professions of faith but do nothing about them. Still others make a religion of good deeds. None of these actions are enough. The urgency, the immediacy of the gospel, must be proclaimed to all people today.
