Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows his handiwork.
The truly breathtaking moments have all been visual: the tiny seashell curve of my minutes-old daughter’s ear, the brilliance of a technicolor sunset with the sky aflame with passion for God. So often, we look to the literal heavens to describe God. We have nothing else in our human experience as vast as the expanse of a cloudless blue sky. Nothing forces perspective like the starry black velvet of night.
During the gloaming, a holy golden hour on a fall day in Georgia, I first heard a still, small voice calling me to the priesthood. To this day, I carry the warmth of that light, the way it embraced and suffused me with the sense of coming home.
MOVING FORWARD: Set aside some special time during Advent to listen for where and how God is calling you.
