3 John 5 Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the friends, even though they are strangers to you.
When I volunteer with them to accompany someone to immigration court, I accompany a friend I’ve never met before.
The idea of friends in Christ dates back to the first century. In his letters, John speaks of members of the Christian community as his friends. In the early Church, we begin to understand how friendship can be defined beyond personal relationships and grow toward a sense of belonging in, to, and with a beloved community. Our friends might even be strangers but still part of the family of God and part of our beloved community.
MOVING FORWARD: How will you be intentional about making new friends in the coming year?
