Ephesians 6:14-17 Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Perhaps that’s why I’m so attracted to this passage. Sometimes I feel small and weak, battered by demands for more time and money and work. But Paul’s words to the Ephesians make me feel like strength and courage are within grasp. I imagine myself clad as this type of superhero, not faster than a speeding bullet or able to leap buildings in a single bound, but a soldier in the army of God, equipped and empowered to boldly proclaim the gospel and take on the forces of evil—or at least the challenges of the day.
MOVING FORWARD: Imagine yourself clothed in the armor of God. How does thinking this way change how you approach the day?
