Luke 15:22-24 But the father said to his slaves, “Quickly, bring out a robe—the best one—and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. And get the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; for this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” And they began to celebrate.
Truthfully, the ending of this story is up to us: We choose what we do with God’s forgiveness and how we treat each other. It is far easier to bask in God’s welcoming embrace than to move into the hard work of repentance and new life. Even more difficult is to accept the return and repentance of those who need our forgiveness and God’s.
May God bless us in doing the hard work and finishing the story well.
